i love all the things you say in this post! i am a huge fan of boundaries! I leave for the South Pacific in 28 days... and we have planned a trip to Italy 2026. I miss Italy every day since I got back last September. Walking the streets alone through Milan... will always be one of my most treasured memories! I think of you several times a day and wonder where you are wandering now.
Oh, I'm so happy you're traveling to the South Pacific again. Are you going to American Samoa? We need to get together when you return.
I haven't actually been to Milan yet. Just hasn't worked out. But I love wandering the streets of Italy. It can be in touristy areas or not. I'm not picky. I like to just put my phone away and wander. And if I get turned around or lost, then I pull my phone back out. I've really gotten to know some cool areas of Florence this way.
Hawaii, Samoa (western Samoa), then New Zealand. Neice is getting married in Samoa. I think about Milan almost daily. i really really would love to see you when you get back.
I love all the things in this newsletter. Boundaries are good and at times we do drop our gates and let people come in, mostly because we are nice people and don’t want to disappoint them. ( I’m speaking for myself). Then we feel like crap because we maybe allowed this to happen?! No! They are the ones that are rude and expect us to succumb to their needs. We may oblige for a short time until it becomes to demanding or unreasonable, then we want to close the gate that we opened and they resist the fact we have reset our boundaries. At what point does this happen? Maybe we are at our breaking point when no means no. And our time may be to retreat to a place that makes us happy again to reset ourselves to our original purpose. There is nothing wrong with doing this to keep our sanity. If traveling does this for you and you know you are resetting your boundaries then that’s a great plan! Continue to pursue those things that help you reset and start over. Don’t feel guilty, you deserve this! Time is a thief and we need to take what time we have and spend it the way we want to! Enjoy every moment! I look forward to living vicariously through your travels!
